Gorkha municipality has honored national football player Nisa Thokar and volleyball player Usha Bhandari. Thokar and Bhandari were honored with cash prizes of Rs.

They were honored with cash and certificates by Speaker of Gandaki Province Krishna Dhital, Mayor Krishna Rana of Gorkha Municipality, Deputy Mayor Masli Maya Thokar. "We have organized an honor program to encourage the players," said Pradeep Kunwar, sports coordinator of the municipality. 

Players from 14 wards are participating in the Mayor's Cup football tournament. The first team in the competition will get a trophy medal and a certificate along with a cash prize of 1 lakh 1 thousand 111 rupees. The second, third and fourth Bannoi teams will receive trophies, medals and certificates worth 51 thousand 111, 30 thousand 111 and 15 thousand 111 respectively. 

Eight teams have participated in the first inter-municipal deputy head women's volleyball tournament.
