The Chief Minister Cup state level women's volleyball tournament has started from Wednesday in Ghorahi. Teams from 12 districts across the province are participating in the competition organized by Lumbini State Sports Council till March 23.

Tiran Gautam, Member Secretary of Provincial Sports Council, said that the competition is being divided into four groups at Shahid Manch located in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-15. Six matches were played on the first day of the tournament, which was played on the basis of Leaguecom Knockout.

On the first day, Palpa district entered the quarterfinals by winning two consecutive matches. From Group B, Palpa defeated Arghakhanchi and Nawalparasi West to secure a place in the last eight. Palpa won 3-0 sets over Nawalparasi West. In other matches, Rukum East defeated Gulmi, Palpa defeated Arghakhanchi, Banke defeated Pyuthan, Rupandehi defeated Dang, Rolpa defeated Rukum East in straight sets of 3-0. 

Gautam said that a state-level competition was organized to produce skilled women players and develop volleyball in the state. The winning team will get a cash prize of 1 lakh, a medal, a trophy and a certificate, while the runner-up team will get a cash prize of 65 thousand, a medal, a trophy and a certificate. The third prize is 35,000 cash, medal, trophy and certificate and consolation prize is 15,000 cash and certificate.

The best player will be awarded cash 10, and the best player in 6 categories will also be awarded 5,000, medal, trophy and certificate. Earlier, the Chief Minister's Cup state level men's volleyball tournament was held at Sandhikhar in Arghakhanchi. After this, the state is preparing to organize a state-level cricket tournament from March 25 and a football tournament from March 27.
