Army defeated Police by 4 wickets in the final match of the league stage at the Extratech Oval Cricket Ground in Tilottama, Rupandehi on Thursday and set the title journey.
With the victory of the Army in the departmental derby, the 18-game unbeaten journey of the Police has come to a break. Police Club has already reached the finals by being at the top of the league table. The general target of 149 runs given by the police for victory was completed by the Army in 41 overs with the loss of 6 wickets.
Vivek Yadav contributed an unbeaten 41 runs to the victory of the Army. He hit 5 fours and a six off 45 balls. Similarly, Tritraj Das scored 25, Bhim Sarki scored 23 and Santosh Karki scored 22 while Naren Saud was dismissed for zero runs. Captain Vinod Bhandari faced 35 balls and remained not out for 13 runs. Police's Lalit Rajvanshi alone took four wickets in bowling. He spent 34 runs keeping 2 maidens in 10 overs. Along with this, Alam completed 100 wickets in the history of Prime Minister's Cup cricket tournament. He is the second player to complete 100 wickets in Prime Minister's Cup cricket. Earlier, Lalit Rajwanshi of Police had set the record in the previous match. Similarly, Police's Naren Saud took 3 wickets.
Saud bowled 7 overs and spent 16 runs. Kushal Malla and Bhim Sarki took 1 wicket each. Now on Saturday, the finals will be held at Siddharth Stadium in Bhairahawa, where two departmental teams, Police and Army, will compete.
