Gujarat defeated by Punjab

Under the captaincy of Shreyas Air, Punjab Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 11 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket on Tuesday. Iyer, who won the title for Kolkata Knight Riders last season, scored an unbeaten 97 while playing his first match for Punjab.

This is Air's highest score in IPL. After losing the toss and being invited to bat, Punjab was impressed by his innings and made a score of 243-5. In the last over, Ayr had an opportunity to complete the century. But after Sashank Singh scored 23 runs with 5 fours in the last over, Air came close to his first century in the IPL.

Air played 42 balls and hit 9 sixes and 5 fours. Sashank played 16 balls and hit 6 fours and 2 sixes and remained unbeaten on 44 runs. Opener Prinyash Arya scored 47 runs off 23 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Azmatullah Omarzai scored 16 runs off 15 balls while Glenn Maxwell was out LBW on the first ball he faced. Gujarat's Sai Kishore took 3 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs.

Gujarat lost 5 wickets in reply and scored only 232 runs. Opener Sai Sudarshan scored 74 runs from 41 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. He gave Gujarat a good start by scoring 61 runs in 6 overs for the first wicket with captain Shubman Gill.

Gill played 14 balls and scored 33 runs with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Jos Buttler scored 54 runs in 33 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes and Serfan Rutherford scored 46 runs in 28 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes, but that was not enough to give Gujarat victory.
