Former heavyweight champion George Foreman is no more, he died on Friday. Age was 76 years. In the famous 'Rumble in the Jungle' in 1974, he faced Muhammad Ali and was defeated. 20 years later he became the champion again.

To many he was 'Big George'. left school early. Later, he became an Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion. He is considered as a 'legend' of world boxing. In his professional career, he made 81 appearances. Won 76 of them. Even in that, 68 were knockout wins.  Apart from the

game life, he is constantly appearing in TV commercials. Foreman's family said, "It is with sadness that we announce that George Edward Foreman Sr. has passed away." He passed away on March 21, 2025. His death was peaceful and he was surrounded by his family.'

The family added, 'We are grateful for the sympathy and love expressed towards us. We will all be proud of Foreman's unique life. As soon as the news of his death came, other old boxing players also paid their respects. Another former champion, Mike Tyson, wrote in X, 'His contribution to boxing will never be forgotten.' Boxing promoter Bob Arum also called Foreman one of the greatest the sport has ever seen. 

US President Donald Trump wrote,  'Foreman is a great athlete.' Foreman was born on January 10, 1949, in Texas. He grew up in Houston. Those who raised him were old men and frequently disappeared. Only when he won the World Heavyweight Championship did he find out that JD Foreman was not his real father. Only then did he come in contact with his real father.

Foreman was six feet two inches tall at the age of 13 and weighed two hundred pounds. He entered the world of crime before he turned 16. Later he was engaged in boxing. He used to say, 'I used to box because I wanted to show my friends that I am not afraid of anyone. A year and 25 fights later, I was an Olympic gold medalist. He won gold in Mexico in 1968 at the age of 19.
