Prime Minister's Cup: Gandaki beat Madhesh in Super Over

Gandaki province has won an exciting victory against Madhesh in the ongoing Prime Minister's Cup One Day Men's National Cricket Tournament in Rupandehi. Gandaki defeated Madhesh Pradesh in a super over in a competitive match held at Siddharth Cricket Stadium in Bhairawa on Monday.

After both teams scored equal runs (246/246) in the scheduled 50 overs, the match went to super over. Chasing the target of 23 runs given by Gandaki in the super over, Madhesh managed to score only 9 runs. Sudeep Aryal scored 6 runs and Amrit Gurung scored 13 runs. Pawan Sharraf could only score 3 and Rupesh Singh 9 runs for Madhesh who came in to bat. 

Before that, Gandaki Pradesh, which chased the target of 246 runs given by Madhesh for victory, was also bowled out for 246 runs. Arjun Kumal scored a century for Gandaki. He scored 106 runs off 140 balls with 10 fours and a six. He was declared the player of the match. Dinesh Budhamgar and Sudeep Aryal contributed 34/34 runs. Captain Bipin Khatri scored 26 runs, Subas Bhandari scored 13 runs and Kamal Pariyal scored 11 runs while two players were dismissed for zero runs. In bowling, Vishal Patel of Madhesh took the most four wickets. Rupesh Singh, Ranjit Kumar, Pawan Sharraf and Pradeep Paswan got one wicket each. 

Before that, Madhesh Pradesh, who won the toss and batted first, scored 246 runs losing 7 wickets in the scheduled over. Openers Rohan Vick, Harishankar Sah and Rupesh Singh played half-centuries for him. Rohan scored 64 runs off 98 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes. Harishankar and Rupesh scored equal 51/51 runs. Similarly, Pawan Sharraf was dismissed for 31 and Vishal Patel for 12 runs. Gandaki's Bipin Khatri and Kamal Pariyar took 2 wickets each. Vipin spent 33 runs keeping 3 maidens in 10 overs. Kamal bowled 7 overs and spent 35 runs. 

Sudeep Aryal proved to be expensive. Aryal, who bowled four overs, scored 47 runs without a wicket. After this result, Gandaki is in the ninth place in the table with four points. Gandaki has won 2 out of 9 matches and lost 7 matches. Madhesh finished eighth on the basis of run rate with the same four points. Madhesh won two and lost five in 7 games.
