The board meeting of the Association of International Marathon and Distance Race (AIIMS), the joint organization of World Running, will be held in Nepal.

AIIMS Ambassador for Nepal TS Thakuri informed that the board meeting of AIIMS will be held in Kathmandu in the third week of May. Board meeting of AIIMS will be held on May 21 and 22 (June 4-5).

This is probably the first board meeting of a global federation of any genre to be held in Nepal. Earlier, board meetings and congresses of Asian bodies were organized in Nepal.

After continuous lobbying, it was possible to host the board meeting of AIIMS in Nepal, said Thakuri, the founder of Nepalgunj Marathon, who is an AIIMS ambassador. "Having AIIMS board meeting in Nepal is a good news for the tourism of the country as a whole." Thakuri, the founder of Nepalgunj Marathon said, "This will spread worldwide publicity about Nepal." It will also provide a golden opportunity for Nepal's race organizers to expand their relationship with the international community, get familiar with the global campaign of the race and learn something.' AIIMS has network in 120 countries. About 450 road race organizers are its members. All over the world road races are measured and recognized by AIIMS.
