Norbu T Sherpa won the Chivas Open golf tournament held at Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday. Norbu of the game with one handicap performed exceptionally and scored 43 stableford points. He won over Chewang Sherpa with a lead of 5 points.
Norbu T Sherpa's excellent performance included impressive birdies on the third, fifth, seventh, ninth, 11th, 13th, 15th and 17th holes. He made two bogey cards on the second and sixth holes. Chewang was the runner-up with 38 stableford points. Wangchen Dhondup got the best gross award. He added 36 points. Dhondup defeated Colonel Nischajang Rayamazhi on countback. Dhondup scored 19 points in the back nine compared to 18 points of the Colonel.
Geeta Gurung won the women's side with 25 points. While Angela Yonjan was the runner-up with 19 points. On the senior side, Bhairaja Pandey won with 33 points. He defeated Suhrid Ghimire, Tendy Sherpa and Poorna Bahadur Rai on countback.
Phunsok N Lama won the award for longest drive and Nischajung won the award for closest to the pin.
A total of 103 players, including 5 women, played in the stableford format in 18 holes in the Chivas open golf tournament. This competition is organized by Pernod Ricard. Saurabh Bhattarai, Business Development Manager of Pernod, Suhrid Ghimire, President of Gokarna Golf Club and Captain Joseph Nathan presented the prizes to the winners.
