Tribhuvan Army Club has strengthened its chances of reaching the final of the Prime Minister's Cup Men's ODI Cricket Tournament. Army defeated Gandaki Pradesh by 6 wickets on Friday. Gandaki, who was invited to bat after the Army won the toss at the Deukhuri Cricket Stadium in Lamhi, lost all wickets in 30.3 overs and was bowled out for 116 runs.

Army has completed the target in 26.5 overs. Having won the sixth game in the seventh game, Army is in the second position with 12 points. Nepal Police Club is at the top with 14 points after winning the first seven matches. After the participating 10 teams compete against each other in the round robin, the top two teams will play in the finals. 

After Shahab Alam of Army took 5 wickets, Gandaki was wrapped up cheaply. Devrehate spinner Shahab was chosen as player of the match after spending 42 runs with 1 maiden in 10 overs. He has taken 20 wickets in the tournament. He is trailing Police's Lalit Rajvanshi who is at the top with 30 wickets. Army's other Devrehate spinners Kushal Malla and Naren Saud also took 2 wickets each while Subas Bhandari was run out for 4 runs. 

Opener Arjun Kumal scored 33 runs from Gandaki. He hit 4 fours in 49 balls and was bowled by Shahab. Arjun and Sameer Kandel added 46 runs for the first wicket within 13 overs to give Gandaki a restrained start. Shahab dismissed Sameer for 8 runs and broke this partnership. Deepak Dumre 19, Kamal Pariyar 17, captain Bipin Khatri were dismissed for 15 runs. No other player could score runs in double figures.

Army opener Tritraj Das scored 37 runs off 68 balls with 3 fours. Another opener and captain Vinod Bhandari was dismissed in 1 run. Imran Shaikh was out for 12 and Bhim Sarki was out for 14 runs. Basir Ahmed scored 32 off 38 balls with 3 fours and 1 six and Sompal Kami remained unbeaten on 10 runs off 21 balls. Gandaki's Chandra Paudel, Bipin and Sudeep Aryal took 1 wicket each. Gandaki is at the bottom of the table with 2 points after winning 1 match and losing 6 matches. This is Gandaki's fifth defeat in a row.
