Sunsari Itahari's TFC Talatalaiya has entered the semi-finals of the fifth edition of the Mills Gold Cup football tournament.
In the match held at Biratnagar's Jutmil Stadium on Tuesday, TFC defeated the visiting team YSC Khokhazhil Katihar of Bihar by 4-0 goals and confirmed their place in the semi-finals.
For TFC, Sanis Limbu, Karan Sunwar, Nischal Lama and Nivas Phuyal managed to take the team to the last four.
TFC kept Katihar under pressure throughout the game. In the 37th minute of the game, TFC's Sanis Limbu scored a goal and gave the team the lead. Taking a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half, TFC played an aggressive game in the second half. In the 74th minute, Karan Sunwar doubled the lead.
After three minutes, Nischal Lama increased the lead by scoring in the 77th minute and Nivas Phuyal scored in extra time to ensure the team's victory.
TFC will compete against Udaipur's Fusion Football Club Gaighat in the first semi-final on Thursday.
TFC captain Savin Ghimire became the player of the match. He received a cash prize of 2,100. Wednesday's match will be between the organizers Laligurans Sporting Club Rani and Letang Football Club Morang.
