The departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club and Gandaki Province have entered the semi-finals of the 1st Pokhara Cup National Men's Handball Tournament by being at the top of the group. In the league stage match, Gandaki topped Group 'A' and Army Group 'B'.
On Monday, the league stage of the ongoing tournament at the Pokhara Stadium ended. Tribhuvan Army has won the departmental derby on Monday towards Group 'B'. Army defeated the other departmental team APF with a margin of 19-14. Akash Adhikari scored the most 5 goals in Army's victory.
On Monday itself, Army defeated Lumbini 37-21 and entered the semi-finals, remaining at the top with a total of 6 points. Army's Suresh Mahato scored the most 9 goals. From that group, APF entered the semi-finals as runners-up. APF defeated Lumbini region on Sunday. Lumbini went out with no points while APF had 3 points.
Koshi and Karnali provinces have shared one point each in group 'A'. After the game was tied at 20-20, Bade scored the points. In the next match, Karnali defeated Sudurpaschim by 37-27 goals. Mahesh Thapa scored 11 goals in Karnali's victory. From Group 'A', Gandaki has entered the semi-finals by remaining at the top. In the last match of the league stage, Gandaki defeated Koshi by 37-25, but Koshi made it to the semi-finals. After playing three games, Gandaki became the winner and added a total of 9 points.
Even though Koshi and Karnali have the same four/four points from that group, Koshi has entered the last four on the basis of goal difference. Koshi scored 3 goals less than Karnali. Now in the semi-final on Tuesday, home team Gandaki will face APF while Army will play against Koshi. The final of the competition will be held on Tuesday.
