National men's handball starts in Pokhara: Gandaki wins two games in the semi-finals

The first Pokhara Cup National Men's Handball Tournament has started from Sunday organized by the Gandaki Pradesh Handball Association. On the first day of the tournament at Pokhara Stadium, the home team Gandaki won two matches and entered the semi-finals.

Gandaki started their journey to the last four by defeating Sudurpaschim Province and Karnali Province. Four games were completed on Sunday. In the first game, Gandaki defeated Sudurpaschim with 35-17 goals. Pawan Chantyal scored the most 11 goals for Gandaki. Saroj Kumar Singh scored 6 goals for Sudurpaschim. In the second match, APF won by 30-9 against Lumbini.

Nitesh Dhimal scored 5 goals for APF. Manoj Tharu scored 5 goals for Lumbini. In the third match, Gandaki beat Karnali by 42-16. Pralesh Gurung scored 12 goals for Gandaki. With this win, Gandaki entered the semi-finals one match earlier. In the fourth match, Koshi defeated Sudurpaschim 22-19. While inaugurating the

competition, Member Secretary of Provincial Sports Council Gandaki, Sridhar Sharma said that only the athletes are doing the work of promoting the country and some latest plans have been put forward in the field of sports in Gandaki province. Tej Gurung, vice president of the South Asian Handball Association, said that handball activities will proceed gradually.  Koshi Pradesh, Lumbini Pradesh, Karnali Pradesh, Sudurpaschim Pradesh and two departmental teams Tribhuvan Army Club and APF Club are participating in the

competition along with the organizer Gandaki. The competition is organized on the basis of league less knockout. The winning team of the

competition will receive Rs 1 lakh, the runner-up will receive Rs 50,000 and the third place team will receive Rs 30,000. Handball Association Gandaki Vice President Girman Gurung informed that the best goalkeeper, the best player and the highest scorer will be awarded Rs 5,000 each. The association estimates that 14 lakh rupees will be spent to complete the competition. The competition was held with the technical support of the Provincial Sports Council Gandaki and Kaski District Handball Association.
