On Saturday, the host Kakadvita Football Training Center and the league winner Church Boys United are competing for the fifth Mechinagar Gold Cup football title in Kakadavita. Before the final, in the pre-match conference on Friday, the captain and coach of both the teams said that they are at stake to become champions for the first time.

Birtamod United, Jhapa 11, Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club won the title of the tournament which started in 2071.

The host Kakadvitta Football Training Center is planning to hold the title at home with home supporters. The hosts, who made it to the finals for the first time this season, are on the verge of winning the title at the first opportunity. Coach Munna Subba said that he is eager to keep the title at home.

'Church Boys is a strong team. But we play to keep the title at home. We will make the home supporters happy," said coach Subba. On the other hand, Suman Shrestha, the coach of Church Boys, said that it would be easier for the team to have a day's rest before the finals. "We got a day's rest before the final. It was difficult to play continuously. We will play to win the final. But, we don't underestimate the opposition.' This year the Church Boys have made it to the finals in eight of the 10 tournaments they have played in Mofusal.

It looks like it will be an exciting final match between Church Boys United, who are in rhythm after the Shahid Smarak League champions, and the hosts who have the support of the local crowd. The winner of the competition, which will have the technical support of Jhapa District Football Association and Mechinagar Sports Development Committee, will get Rs.10 lakh and the runner-up will get Rs.5 lakh.

The best player will get Rs 51,000, the top scorer Rs 25,000 and the best goalkeeper and coach will get Rs 21,000. Budding players will get Rs.15,000. Coordinator Shri Prasad Mainali said that all preparations for the finals have been completed.
