Organized by Nakhipot Youth Club and co-organized by Nakhipot Badminton Circle, the 3rd Yalambar Nationwide Open Badminton Tournament has started on Friday.
On the occasion of the inauguration, Preeti Rai of the National Women's Football Team was honored by the organizers with 25,000. President of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality Ward 14 Amritjung Mahat and treasurer of the organizing club Sujan Rai presented Preeti with a letter of appreciation and cash.
On the same occasion, President of Nepal Democratic Sports Association Lalitpur Punit Gurung, Buddha Air Captain Shailesh Limbu, Lalitpur District Badminton Association President Gopal Maharjan, Shobachok Toll Reform Committee President Puran Rai, Sijan Shrestha, Gambhir Mahat and others also personally gave cash to Preeti as an incentive. 113 players are participating in 6 events in the tournament which will last till March 4 at the covered hall of the
host club. The total prize money of the competition with cash prizes in all competitions is 385,000. National Sports Council Member-Secretary Tanklal Ghising inaugurated the tournament.
The top three finishers in male/female singles will receive 30,000, 15,000 and 7,500/7,500 cash prizes respectively. In men's singles, players other than the top 8 rankings are participating. In the U-17 men's singles, the first place winner will get 15,000, the second place 10,000 and the third place 5/5 thousand. In men's doubles for players other than the top 20 rankings, first place will win 50,000, second place 25,000 and third place 10/10,000 cash prize. The winner of
mixed doubles will get 30,000, the runner-up will get 15,000 and the third will get 7,500/7,500 cash prizes. The top three finishers in the men's singles category above 45 will receive cash prizes of Rs 35,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
