The dispute arising after the election of Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) is moving towards resolution. Controversy arose after 5 sports associations filed a lawsuit against the general meeting held on December 13.
However, now the dispute will be resolved with the coordination of International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
Nepal Modern Pentathlon Association, Nepal Equestrian Association, Nepal Rugby Association, Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association and Nepal Baseball and Softball Association have filed a case in the court with a request for a general stop because they did not get membership in the NOC. Now according to the agreement, NOC will call a special general meeting within 15 days.
Now 5 unions will withdraw the case against NOC. NOC issued a press release and said that an agreement was reached between all parties after discussions at OCA's headquarters in Kuwait to resolve the dispute. The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council did not recognize the election of the NOC due to the court case.
The presidents of all five associations participated in the discussion held in Kuwait. Rajendra Shrestha of pentathlon, Ravi Rajakarnikar of equestrian, Deepak Devkota of rugby, Achyut Khanal of skating, Deepak Neupane of baseball participated in it. All presidents have signed a two-point agreement on the recommendation of OCA Director General Hussain Al Musallam and NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha to resolve the dispute. Former Secretary General of NOC Nilendraraj Shrestha was also present in the discussion.
