Nominations for two categories of the '6th SPA Sudurpaschim Sports Award 2081' to be held at Dhangadhi in Kailali have been announced. Kabaddi's Khagendra Joshi, Swimming's Atharva Singh and Cricket's Hemant Dhami have been nominated in Far West Icon Men's category, according to Nepal Sports Journalists' Forum, the organizing body.
Joshi was a member of Nepal's runner-up Banda team in the 4th Bangabandhu Men's International Kabaddi Tournament held in Bangladesh. He is in closed training for Mission 2026 under the Asian Games.
Paudi's Singh set a new national record in the qualifying competition of the World Aquatics Championship. He broke the record set at the 2013 South Asian Games. He is the only athlete to win a medal for Sudurpaschim Province in national swimming competitions. In the year 2081, he won 7 medals including two gold, two silver and three bronze. Cricketer Dhami is the captain of the Nepali team who performed well to register a victory over Afghanistan in the U-19 Asia Cup. He took three wickets in his debut match against Canada from the senior team.
Far-West Icon Karate's Manisha Bohra, Kabaddi's Manisha Joshi and cricket's Savitri Dhami have been nominated in the women's category. Bohra is the player who won the gold medal for Nepal in the 8th South Asian Karate Tournament held in Thimphu, Bhutan. He is the only player from Sudurpaschim Province to win gold in the 56th National Karate Competition.
Kabaddi's Joshi is a member of Nepal's bronze medal winning team at the 6th Asian Women's Kabaddi Championship in Iran. She has been successful in closed training for Mission 2026 under the Asian Games. Cricket's Savitri Dhami was the best player in Sushil Koirala Memorial Cricket under 19 years. She was the best batsman in Maiyadevi women's cricket. According to the
organizers, the winning players of both categories will be awarded trophies with cash of 20,000 each. Pathak informed that through the sixth edition of the award, awards will be given to national and international players and coaches who have performed highly in the year 081. According to him, awards will be given in the category of best player male and female, best coach, young player of the year, special award and lifetime achievement award along with South West icon women and men.
Best player male and female category winners will be awarded 35-35 thousand, best coach 30 thousand, young player of the year, special award and lifetime achievement award 25-25 thousand in cash.
