DCC Cup is going to be held for the first time in Kathmandu district inter-municipal football tournament organized by Kathmandu District Coordination Committee.
Santosh Budhathoki, Head of the District Coordination Committee informed at a press conference held on Wednesday that 11 Municipalities of Kathmandu will participate in the competition to be held at the Armed Police Force ground in Halchok. The
winner will receive a prize of Rs 2 lakh and the runner-up will receive a prize of Rs 1 lakh. According to the organizers, the best player of the tournament will be awarded Rs. Armed Police Force, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Kathmandu District Sports Development Committee will provide technical support for conducting the
tournament.
Chief Budhathoki said that the goal is to organize the competition on a large scale with the participation of 77 district municipalities from next year. He said, "After the success of this year's competition, next year we will make it nationwide."
Budhathoki said that the competition was started with the aim of strengthening the relationship between the municipalities and supporting the development of the football game. Only local players of the respective municipality will be allowed to represent in the team. The organizers believe that this will help in the development of the talent of local players.
