Machindra Football Club defeated APF 1-0 in the last quarter-final of the Mechinagar Gold Cup football tournament in Mechinagar on Tuesday. With this game, the equation of the competition has been completed.

Machindra's foreign player Yusuf Malik's goal scored in extra time in the first half was decisive. He scored a goal from the penalty area on a pass from Stephen Kamaha. In the 11th minute of the match, Stephen hit a header on Machindra's Aditya Shakya's cross, but the ball went out. In the 35th minute of the game, Yusuf could not take advantage of Pujan Shrestha's free kick.

In the 73rd minute from APF, captain Hari Karki's free kick from 18 yards was saved by Machindra's goalkeeper Vishal Shrestha. In the 80th minute, Anish Maharjan's unmarked shot went out.

Machindra's coach Ganesh Katuwal said that even though both teams were good, his team was not fully set and could not score as much as expected. APF coach Top Bisht also said that he did not get the expected performance while playing in consecutive competitions. He mentioned that players get injured due to the impractical game schedule of ANFA and suggested to make a schedule so that the players get rest in the future. Yusuf Malik, the decisive scorer of Machindra, was declared the player of the match. He got an award of Rs. 11,000. The player of the match award for the entire tournament has been sponsored by businessman Shyam Prasain (SP).

Now Machindra will compete against Church Boys United in the second semi-final. In the first semi-final on Wednesday, the host Kakadvitta Football Training Center and Dharan Football Club will compete. Kankarvitta defeated Georgian FC and Dharan Black Bulls of Uzbekistan in the opening match to reach the semi-finals.
