The first IGP Cup cricket tournament has started under the organization of Nepal Police Sports Committee. Sudip Giri, Executive Director of National Police Training Institute and Member Secretary of Nepal Police Sports Committee, Additional Inspector General of Police, inaugurated the competition by handing over the ball to Umpire Dharamsundar Shakya.
Remembering the success achieved by the players of Nepal Police, he expressed his gratitude for the support of Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) in organizing the tournament.
Sudurpaschim Police team won by 10 wickets against Karnali team.
In the second match, Lumbini Province team defeated Bagmati Province Police team by 4 runs. Lumbini's Yuvraj Sen Vali scored the first half-century of the tournament in a match that featured three half-centuries. While chasing the target of 159 runs, Bagmati lost 2 wickets in the first over and failed to score 9 runs in the last over. The partnership of Vijay Ghalan and Savin Ghartimagar at one time came close to Bagmati victory. Vijay unbeaten 82 and Savin scored 53 runs. Vijay Ghalan, who also took three wickets while performing
all-round, became the man of the match.
