Shahid Smarak 'A' Division League Champion Church Boys United has entered the final of the 9th Birat Gold Cup held in Biratnagar.
In the semi-final held at Biratnagar Shahid Maidan on Monday, the strong departmental team defeated Nepal Police Club 1-0 and came close to the title of Church Boys. Church Boys avenged their defeat against Police in the 24th Aha Rara Gold Cup of the season. At that time Police beat Church Boys by 1-0.
Despite creating opportunities time and time again, Police Club had to leave the competition because they could not score back. The only goal scored by Lakpa Pakhrin in the 70th minute of the game became the deciding factor for Church Boys' victory. Lakpa skillfully netted the long pass given by foreign player Abayomi.
Church Boys will compete against well-known rivals Threestar for the title on Wednesday. Earlier, in the semi-final held on Sunday, Three Star defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by 3-2 goals and decided to travel to the final.
