Jangu Tharu and Rupa Tharu have won the main title of Banke MTB Race 2025 organized for the first time in the district.
In the elite men's five-kilometer cross-country race, Jangu completed the set distance in 52:58 minutes while Vishal Tharu (57:56) came second and Vimlesh Yadav (57:58) came third. The top three players were awarded cash prizes of 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000 respectively along with trophies, medals and certificates.
Similarly, Rupa finished the course with a time of 43:36 minutes, while Kavita Sarki finished the course with a time of 46:42 minutes and Sita Sarki came third with a time of 47:28 minutes. The top three people got 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000 cash respectively as well as medals and certificates.
Dev Bohra (34:31) was the first, Deepak Malla (38:42) was the second and Vishal Shrestha (41:06) was the third in the race on the trail course located in Duduwa rural municipality near Nepalgunj. The top three in the Master's category were given cash prizes of 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000 as well as medals and certificates. Similarly, Ajay KC (41:03), Jitendra Tharu (42:08) and Kaviram Budhathoki (44:51) won the top three positions respectively.
In the race conducted in the UCI crosscountry Olympic format, Dilochan Bohra took the first position with a time of 35:44, Virender Dhobi took the second position with a time of 35:55 and Ranjit Chauhan secured the third position with a time of 37:08 . The top three among veterans and juniors received five thousand, three thousand and two thousand in cash as well as medals and certificates .
This course in the forest of Duduwa Rural Municipality is considered very beautiful and attractive for cycling. Gagan Thapa, the head of Nepalgunj Bicycles, the organizer of the race, informed that the rural municipality has given significant financial support to this race to bring in tourists through bicycles. Thapa said that this race in collaboration with Team The Edge will be conducted every year.
