The Nepali women's national cricket team has ended the losing streak of nine consecutive matches. In the four-nation tournament being held in Uganda, Nepal won an exciting 1-wicket victory over the home team on Sunday. After 10 matches, Nepal won its first victory.

Nepal has been winless since defeating UAE by 6 wickets in Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup on July 19 last year. In the same tournament, the Nepali team, which was defeated by India and Pakistan, lost 3-3 times to the Netherlands and Thailand in the triangular series held at home last month. Namibia suffered a 4-wicket loss to Nepal in the first match of this tournament on Saturday. 

After Nepal won the toss, Uganda was invited to bat after losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs in Entebbe and could score only 75 runs. Opener Immaculate Nakisuyi scored the most 22 runs. She played 40 balls and hit 3 fours. Stephanie Nampina scored 14 off 25 balls and Malissa Aricott scored 11 off 24 balls. Pooja Mahato took 3 wickets from Nepal. Opening bowler she spent 14 runs keeping 1 maiden in 4 overs. Captain Indu Burma took 2 wickets by spending 8 runs keeping 1 maiden in 4 overs. 

Nepal gave 'debut' to Sana Praveen. She came in the opening game and scored 17 runs in 36 balls hitting 1 four. Another opener, Jakkan Khadka was dismissed for 8 and Indu for 6 runs. Pooja, who was chosen as the player of the match, scored 16 runs with an all-round performance. She played 29 balls and could not hit any boundaries.

Kavita Joshi nil, Ruveena Chhetri 10, Bindu Rawal 2, Roma Thapa 1, Rachna Chaudhary out for nil. Ishwari Bisht 3 and Rhea Sharma scored 4 unbeaten runs to give Nepal victory by 1 ball. Janet Mbabazi of Uganda took 3 wickets and Saraha Walaja took 2 wickets. Nepal will play against Hong Kong on Monday in the double round robin competition.
