Virgunj Gold Cup to Police

Nepal Police Club won the second edition of Birganj Gold Cup football tournament by defeating Machindra in the tiebreaker by 3-0 in the final. The former policeman is the winner. The game ended in a 1-1 draw at the scheduled time.

Machindra's Vishwas Tamang, Diwakar Chaudhary and Samiraj Thokar missed the penalty in the tiebreaker. Biswas and Diwakar hit the post but Samiraj's penalty was blocked by Police goalkeeper Amit Tamata. Police's Ujjwal Rai missed a penalty while Ramchandra Vaji, Sanjeev Lama and Amit Tamata scored goals.

Earlier in the first half of the game, Machindra took the lead. In the 12th minute of the match, Samiraj scored a header from Vishal Tamang's pass. Machindra, who took the initial lead, dominated the opposition in the first half. In the 58th minute of the game, Vikas Bik scored a goal on a pass from Ujjwal Rai of Police and brought the team back into the game. After the goal was tied, both teams played aggressively. Machindra was dominant in the second half as well. Samiraj Thokar of Machindra was declared Man of the Match in the final. He received 10 thousand rupees.

Police's Amit Tamata was declared the best goalkeeper. He received 20 thousand rupees. Police Captain Ramchandra Waji was chosen as the best player. He got an electric scooty. Chetan Ghimire of Police received the title of best coach. He got 20,000. The police club raised the trophy with 11 lakh 11 thousand 111 rupees. The runner-up Machindra got 5 lakh 55 thousand 555 rupees. Birganj Municipal Corporation was the main sponsor of the competition. As the Narayani Stadium is dilapidated, the Gold Cup has been organized at the Adarshnagar Stadium.
