Lalitpur district has won the Bagmati state level qualifying cricket tournament. Lalitpur defeated Makwanpur District by 65 runs in a 'low scoring' match at Moolpani Cricket Ground on Thursday.
After Makwanpur won the toss, Lalitpur was bowled out for 192 runs after playing 49.3 overs. Adil Khan scored 55 off 64 balls, Surya Tamang scored 36 off 33 balls and captain Ashutosh Ghirohia scored 28 off 63 balls. From Makwanpur, Sakar Gajurel took 4 wickets with 22 runs, Sameer Choulagai took 2 wickets with 32 runs and Region Dhakal took 1 wicket.
In response, Makwanpur was bowled out for 127 runs in 39.5 overs. Nandan Yadav took 4 for 16 runs. Surya Tamang was chosen as the player of the final. He spent 29 runs and took 3 wickets in his all-round performance. Another spinner Bipin Acharya took 2 wickets with 30 runs. From Makwanpur, Vishal Phuyal scored 41 runs from 64 balls, Yubin Budhathoki scored 25 runs from 68 balls and Rizon scored 16 runs from 31 balls.
Bhaktapur's Saurabh Sakhkarmi was chosen as the best batsman and Lalitpur's Vipin as the best bowler. Sourav scored the highest 219 runs while Bipin took the highest 14 wickets. Nandan won the player of the series award. Taking 12 wickets, he got the required maximum points for the series.
Meanwhile, Bagmati Province has announced the 14-member final team for the Prime Minister's Cup National Cricket Tournament to be held in Lumbini Province from Sunday. The Bagmati team under the captaincy of Prithu Baskota consists of Rijn Dhakal, Nandan Yadav, Pratish JC, Surya Tamang, Rit Gautam, Suman Sunar, Gautam KC, Bipin Acharya, Saurabh Sakharkarmi, Ashutosh Ghirohia, Shubh Kansakar, Ishan Pandey, Sonu Devkota and Vivek Ranamgar.
Sakar Gajurel, Adil Khan, Tilak Rajbhandari, Prateek Shrestha and Uttam Thapamgar have been kept in the alternate list by Bagmati. Last year's semi-finalist Bagmati will start the Prime Minister's Cup by playing against Nepal APF Club at the Extratech Oval in Rupandehi.
