Machindra Football Club defeated Api Church Boys United 2-1 in the second Birganj Gold Cup football tournament on Tuesday and decided the semi-final. Machindra will compete against Salhes Football Club Siraha in the second semi-final on Thursday.
Salhes has secured a place in the semi-finals by defeating Sankata Club.
The first half was scoreless at the Adarshnagar Stadium. Machindra took the lead in the 54th minute of the game. Captain Regine Subba gave the team the lead by scoring a goal. In the 76th minute of the game, Dika Serge, the captain of the church boys, scored a goal and tied the game.
The match was tied at the scheduled time. Score attempts by the players of both teams were not successful. Captain Regine scored the second goal in 5 minutes of injury time to ensure Machindra's victory. Regine who scored two goals was the man of the match.
He got a prize of 10 thousand rupees. Nepal Police and Birgunj United will compete in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
