The departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) has entered the quarter finals of the 9th edition of Virat Gold Cup. APF secured a place in the last eight after defeating the visiting team Delhi Football Club by 5-3 goals at Shaheed Stadium on Tuesday.

The game was decided by a tie breaker after the game was tied without a goal at the scheduled time.  APF's Suman Shrestha, Dipesh Dhimal, Mani Kumar Lama, Savin Gurung and Anil Shrestha scored in the tie breaker. Delhi's Rahif, PC and Udit only managed to score while Ramesh's shot was saved by APF's goalkeeper Angel Shrestha. 

APF, which was under pressure in the first half of the game, performed aggressively from the second half.  In the 30th minute of the match, APF's Hari Karki took the ball from the middle and hit it inside the D-box, but the ball went out. Then Mani Kumar Lama got a wonderful opportunity. However, he failed to score. In the 37th minute, Hari Karki's shot from inside the box deflected off the first bar. 

Delhi created some opportunities in the second half but failed to convert them into goals.   In the 85th minute of the game, Udit from Delhi shot from close to the box, which was brilliantly saved by APF goalkeeper Angel Shrestha,  Soon after that, Shrestha also saved Delhi's Lunkal's one-touch ball. APF's goalkeeper Angel Shrestha was declared the player of the match of the

tournament. He received a cash prize of Rs 11,000. On Wednesday, the first quarter final match will be played between Tribhuvan Army and Rizalco Morang XI. Rizalco defeated another visiting team Kolkata 3-2 in the opening match on Monday.
