The 5th Everest Open International Taekwondo Championship has been completed at the Covered Hall of Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel. 350 players from Nepal, India, Malaysia and China participated in the competition. It was played on the same stage of WT and ITF. Competition was held in 92 categories such as Patron, Pumsey, Gyorogi and Spiring.
World Taekwondo, International Taekwondo Federation participated in the competition. With the feeling that World Taekwondo and International Taekwondo Federation are members of the same family, this kind of competition was organized with the aim of increasing brotherhood and mutual harmony between both Taekwondo, said Lakshman Basnet, director of the competition and founder president of International Taekwondo Federation Nepal.
Nepal won 47 golds, Malaysia 17 golds, China 2 golds and India 1 gold at the ITF. On the male side, Shubham Lamsal of Nepal and Afzya Fara Nadin of Mamilesia on the female side were declared the best players.
India won 2 gold and 1 silver in 25 categories towards the WT and the rest of the medals
