Virgunj Gold Cup: Sankata shock with Sahlesh

Sahlesh Football Club Siraha shocked Sankata Club Kathmandu in the second day of the second Veerganj Gold Cup tournament. Sahlesh won the penalty shootout with 5-4 goals. After no goals in the scheduled time, the game went to penalty shootout.

Captain Sudeep Gurung, Rajeev Lopchan, Isering Lama and Som Carlos scored goals from Sankata, while Sahlesh's goalkeeper Vishal Sunar managed to stop the penalty shot by Ram Thapa. He was selected as Vishal Player of the Match and got 10,000 in cash. Sahlesh's Mbaun Buniset, Sumit Shrestha, Aman Lama, Shishir Lekhi and Jai Gurung scored goals.

Sahlesh's goalkeeper Vishal prevented three shots from entering the goal post and averted the crisis of the scheduled game. The goalkeeper of Sankata also blocked two attempts of the opposing players. 

Nepal Police Club and Bagmati Football Club Sarlahi will compete on Monday. Police is the winner of the first edition held last year. Eight teams from Nepal and India have participated in the Gold Cup organized by Veterans City Club till February 24th at Adarshnagar Stadium in Birganj. The winner will get Rs 11 lakh 11 thousand 111 in cash and the runner-up will get Rs 5 lakh 55 thousand 555. An electric scooter will be awarded to the best player. It is estimated to spend about one crore seven lakh rupees to complete the competition. 

Birganj Municipal Corporation is the main sponsor of the competition. A temporary parapet has been constructed at the Adarshnagar stadium for the Gold Cup project. As the Narayani stadium is dilapidated, the Gold Cup has been organized at the Adarshnagar stadium.
