Police added 6 golds in National Karate

In the 4th Krishna Prasad Bhattarai Memorial National Karate Tournament on Saturday, Police won 6 golds and APF won 1 gold for Kumute.

Out of 12 gold medals, Police won 10, Army and APF won 1 each.

Police's Rajeev Pudasaini, the bronze winner of the 13th South Asian Games, won gold in the 75 kg weight group at the Karate Academy in Satdobato on Saturday. He defeated Yogesh Singh Bista from Far West. Army's Shibu Od and Rurehang Dumi Rai won bronze.

Santosh Shrestha of Police won the gold in the under 67 kg weight group by defeating Saksham Lama of Gandaki by 9-0 points in the one-sided final. Khadg Thamigar from Sudurpaschim and Manish Bik from Koshi region came third. Police's Sajan Moktan won gold in 50 kg. He defeated Lekhraj Ghimire of Bagmati by 7-5 points in the final. Bomin Gurung from Gandaki and Sohan Magar from Madhesh Pradesh finished third.

Mohammad Sheikhu Alam of APF won the gold in the 84 kg men's category. He defeated Koshi's Dhan Rai 9-2 in the final. He is a player who played in the Asian Games. Army's Suresh Japrel and Bagmati province's Salman Mohammed won bronze.

In women's 55 kg, Pushpakala Lama of Police defeated Priyanka Shahi of Karnali Pradesh 5-0 while winning the gold. Prabha Rai from Gandaki and Garima Malla from Sudurpaschim came third. Police's Barsha Budha Magar became the first winner in 45 kg as well. She defeated Pooja Rai of Lumbini by 11-3. Sabuna Rana Magar of Gandaki and Mamta Maharjan of Army came third.

Police's Nirupa Dong Tamang won gold in 61 kg. She defeated Sonia Tiruva of Far West by 9-1 in the final. APF's Ramita Majhi and Koshi's Dhankumari Magar bagged bronze.

Sunday will be the final in 5 competitions. The players who win the gold, silver and bronze of the competition will be able to play directly for the selection of the national karate team.
