The 17th edition of Shaheed Bhimnarayan Gold Cup will be held from Chait 17. According to the organizer Shahid Bhimnarayan Shrestha Memorial Foundation, 8 teams including 'A' division will participate in the competition. Organizing committee coordinator Shambhu Pradhan informed that the games of the competition will be conducted at Lower Tundikhel in Dhankuta.

The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and the runner-up will receive a trophy medal, cup and certificate along with Rs 250,000. Similarly, the highest scorer, man of the match and the best player will also get cash prizes.  The date was decided by the meeting held on Saturday of the foundation regarding the operation of the

competition. The meeting also formed 10 different sub-committees. According to coordinator Pradhan, financial, publicity, playground management, stage, security, volunteers and first aid management sub-committee have been formed. Free arrangements have been made to watch the matches of the competition. Birtamod United Jhapa Football Club won the Shahid Bhimnarayan Gold Cup title of the 16th edition held last year. 

The competition started from 2055 and has been running regularly since 063 after a few years of postponement. The competition is being conducted in memory of martyr Bhimnarayan Shrestha, who was sentenced to death in 035 on charges of throwing a bomb at the then King Birendra Shah. Shrestha was declared a martyr by the government in 074.
