Although necessary preparations and infrastructure have been built in Karnali for the 10th National Games, the project date has been postponed. The 121st board meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of National Sports Council (Rakhep) Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary decided to hold National Sports 2082 from 3rd to 10th May.

Earlier, the 118th board meeting of Rakhap had decided to hold the 10th National Games 2081 from March 23 to 30. Before that, it was announced to be in November 2081.

Karnali Pradesh Rangshala, the main venue of the 10th National Games, has been prepared with an investment of about one billion 59 million rupees. The construction of the Chisapani football ground, Kalungchok rugby ground and the cricket ground of the state stadium complex in Surkhet has also been completed.

The Karnali government had prepared that 24 of the 35 matches of the national tournament would be played in Karnali. Out of that, the state government was preparing to play 16 games including football in the state stadium that can hold about 10,000 spectators.

Humla Hockey Ground and Covered Halls in Dailekh, Kalikot, Jumla, Rukum West and Salyan have also been prepared to play some games, but the organizing date of the 10th National Games has been moved again.

"The management of accommodation, health, security and local transport along with the infrastructure for the national sports were and are still in preparation," said Ghanshyam Bhandari, Minister of Social Development of Karnali. We were ready to manage the accommodation of around 3,500 players in hotels daily, but the federal government moved the date of the competition.

Infrastructure work has also been accelerated. He informed that both sides of the main stadium and auxiliary roads have been paved and the road leading to other fields is also being worked on.

The federal government has allocated 600 million rupees for the tenth national. Necessary preparatory works have been stalled due to the lack of approval of the national sports competition guidelines and expenditure standards.

Bhojanand Rai, the head of the administration department of Rakhep, said that although the national sports competition guidelines were prepared and sent to the Ministry of Sports, it was not sent to the Ministry of Finance from there. "Until now, the expenditure numbers have not been approved, only after they are approved, the way to tender for the purchase of sports materials, costumes, tents, equipment and other materials for the national competition will open," he said, "for the procurement process, at least 30 A day's notice should be issued, then it will take about a week to do the technical and financial evaluation, then the purchase of goods and equipment will be done only after an agreement.

He said that the date was moved again because the preparation work would take some more time. Even if all the processes go ahead smoothly, the 10th National Games may be rescheduled due to lack of time. Even the proposed date is not looking favorable due to the scorching sun of May and the possibility of rain.

Without an official for two months

Karnali Pradesh Sports Development Council has been without an official for almost 2 months due to the failure of the parties in power. Because of this, the preparatory work to be done by the host states for the 10th National Games has also been stalled.

The term of office of the previous members, including Pramod Hamal and member secretary Vishwamitra Sanjyal, expired on January 6. Member Secretary Sanjyal was appointed on January 6, 2077. The council is currently under the charge of ex-officio officials, while Ram Prasad Upadhyay, senior education officer of the Ministry of Social Development, has been given the responsibility of daily operations.

He has been handling the affairs of the council since December 26.
