Machindra FC has reached the semi-finals of the 2nd Chief Minister Kapilvastu Tilaurakot Gold Cup Football Tournament. Machindra reached the last four after defeating Himalayan Sherpa 3-0 in the tiebreaker in the second quarter-final on Thursday.
The match went to a tiebreaker after both teams failed to score in the allotted time. Saurabh Subba, Asim Gurung and Poojan Shrestha scored goals for Machindra, while Padam Shrestha's shot hit the post and went out.
Himalayan Sherpa's Umesh Karki, Ashwin Ghorasaini and Raj Kunwar's shots were blocked by Machindra's goalkeeper Santosh Mahat. Goalkeeper Santosh Mahat, who became the hero in Machindra's victory, was declared the player of the match. He received a trophy with Rs 10,000.
Tilak Thapa, president of District Football Association Kapilvastu, said that there will be a match between Threestar and Hanami BFC Chitwan on Friday. The title winner will get a prize of 11 lakh 11 thousand 111 and the second runner-up will get a prize of 5 lakh 55 thousand 555 rupees.
