Nakhipot Youth Club is going to hold the 3rd Yalambar Nationwide Open Badminton Tournament in March under the co-organization of Nakhipot Badminton Circle.
The tournament will be held from Chait 1 to 4 at its own covered hall in Nakhipot, president of the organizing club Jang Bahadur Sunuwar told a press conference on Friday. About 275 players will participate in six events in the
competition, said Indrajit Limbu, the vice president of the host club. Sujan Rai, the treasurer of the organizing club, said that the total prize money is 3 lakh 85 thousand rupees.
The top three finishers in male/female singles will receive Rs 30,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 7,500 respectively. Men's singles ranked top 8 players will not be eligible to participate. The winner of the U-17 men's singles will win 15,000, the second runner-up will win 10,000 and the third runner-up will win 5,000 each. The winner of men's doubles for players other than the top 20 will win 50,000, the second 25,000 and the third 10,000 each. The winner of
mixed doubles will get 30,000, the runner-up will get 15,000 and the third will get 7,500. Top three finishers in men's singles above 45 years of age will receive 35,000, 20,000 and 10 prizes respectively. Treasurer Rai said that it will cost about 1.5 million to run the
competition. According to the club, participants should register their names by February 27.
