Jhapa Eleven FC on Wednesday reached the final of Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup, the prestigious football tournament of Mofsal. Jhapa defeated visiting team Daga United FC of Bhutan by 3-1 in the semi-final.
After the scheduled 90-minute match ended in a 1-1 tie at the Mechi Stadium, Jhapa added two goals in extra time to win easily. Jhapa will compete against host Bhadrapur Blazers on February 16 for the title. Bhadrapur has also reached the final after defeating the Bangladeshi team.
Aron Thapa of Jhapa scored a powerful free kick from 25 yards in the 55th minute of the game to give the team the lead. Bhutan's Suraj Rasaili scored a personal effort in the 84th minute to tie the game 1-1. In the extra time, Jhapa performed well and added two goals in a row. Rohan Karki scored in the 91st minute to give the team the lead again. At the end, Hari Bahadur Ale Magar made the most of Samir Tamang's pass and scored the decisive goal.
Bhutan created some good chances throughout the game but Jhapa's goalkeeper Sandeep Limbu's excellent performance failed to score. Aron Thapa of Jhapa was adjudged player of the match. He received Rs 21,000 and a trophy.
