The second Chief Minister Tilaurakot Gold Cup football tournament with the highest prize money in the district has started at Buddha Stadium in Jitpur.
Sankata FC won the opening game of the tournament with the aim of promoting the district's tourist attraction through sports tourism. After the first and second half ended in a goalless draw, Sankata defeated Kapilvastu 11 with a goal of 1-0 by scoring in two minutes of added time. In a very exciting match, Uttam Shahi scored a goal and gave Sankata the victory. Uttam, who became the hero in Sankat's victory, was declared the "Man of the Match" of the game. He received the trophy along with Rs.10,000 in cash.
With this, Kapilvastu 11 has been eliminated from the competition, while Sankata has entered the semi-finals. The second match will be played between Machindra FC and Himalayan Sherpa at 3 pm on Thursday. Kapilvastu-11, Sankata FC, Machindra Club Kathmandu and Himalayan Sherpa are participating in the tournament. Similarly, District Football Association President Tilak Thapa said that 8 teams from Nepal Police, Three Star CLA, BFC Chitwan and Zonji FC Sikkim India are participating. The Gold Cup will be held from February 14th to 21st under the organization of Kapilvastu District Football Association.
The winner of the Gold Cup title will get 11 lakh 11 thousand 111 rupees and the runner-up team will get 5 lakh 55 thousand 555 cash prize, said District Football Association Treasurer Ganesh Bahadur Singh Thakuri. He said that 30,000/30,000 will be given to the best players in various categories, 10,000 to the player who is the 'Man of the Match' of each game and 50,000 to the best player of the Gold Cup. The tournament was inaugurated by Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya.
