Kenyan runners have dominated the title of the 13th Dharan 10-K run. Kenyan runners became champions in both male and female categories in the 10 km run completed this morning in Dharan.
On the men's side, Wilson Cheuliot and on the women's side, Sharon Gerotis became the first champions. Wilson completed the prescribed 10 km distance in 30 minutes and 55 seconds. On the women's side, Sharon finished the race in 38 minutes and 42 seconds and became the winner.
Kenya's Julius Mauriki finished the race in 31 minutes and 8 seconds and finished second in the men's race of 4,000 runners. He is also the champion of the Hisan Itahari Run which was completed last month. Durga Bahadur Buddha finished the race in 32 minutes and 44 seconds and finished third.
For women, Sumitra Kumari Choudhary finished second in 39 minutes and 28 seconds, while Deepa Pariyar finished third in 39 minutes and 59 seconds. The first, second and third winners received cash prizes of Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. Dharan sub-metropolitan city chief Harkaraj Rai gave them the award.
In men's under 16 age group, Ishwar Rai first, Subaskumar V.K. While Biki Yadav was second and third, Juhi Rai was first, Kusul Rai was second and Pooja Mahat was third. For veteran men, Vijay Kumar Rai was first, Rakesh Maharjan was second and Ramchandra Shrestha was third. For women, Jamuna Limbu stood first, Sapna Rai stood second and Jakjan Rai stood third.
For super veteran men, Vijaykrishna Tamang was first, Vijay Sagar Danuwar was second and Shivkumar Rai was third. For women, Jamuna Moktan stood first, Bishnumaya Yakkha stood second and Manasa Rai stood third. Among the mid-veteran men, Dharma Maharjan was first, Suvarna Subba was second and Nampar Lepcha was third. Anuda Tamang first, Homadevi Pun second and Shanta Wanem third in mid-veteran women.
