Church Boys Club has entered the finals of the 7th Bagmati Gold Cup Football Tournament-2081.
The church boys came close to the title by making a great comeback in the game against the Armed Police Force (APF) on Friday in the ongoing tournament at Bagmati Rural Municipality-4, Jhurjhure Stadium located in the eastern region of Makwanpur. Foreign player Armand Nayak was the hero in Church Boys' victory. He scored two consecutive goals when his team was behind by one goal. In the
game, the church boys maintained their grip from the start, but the goal was scored in the 35th minute . Wise Rai of APF strengthened the chances of the previous round by scoring . Even though APF protected his lead for a long time, he could not avoid defeat. Armand, a foreign player of Church Boys, scored two consecutive goals in the 73rd and 76th minutes of the game and gave his team the lead. On behalf of the winning team, Sumit Shrestha scored a goal in the 85th minute. Even though APF's Hari Karki scored a goal with 2 minutes remaining in the scheduled 90-minute match, APF was defeated. Armand was declared the 'man of the match' of the
game. He received ten thousand rupees in cash. Reacting after the win, Armand responded that it was very difficult to play against his old club .
'APF is my old club . I know the strengths and weaknesses of this club . APF is not a team to give up . But we won today ', he said . In the second semi-final of the competition, there will be a competition between Three Star Club and Machindra Club on Saturday. The winner will compete for the title on February 12.
