Defending champion Abhilasha Bista and Sunira Thapa have been confirmed to compete for the women's singles title in the 3rd Mayor's Cup and Butwal Open Lawn Tennis being held in Rupandehi.

Abhilasha defeated her rival Aisha Dolkar Gurung in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 in the first semi-final held at Lawn Tennis Village in Butwal on Tuesday morning. In the second semi-final, Sunira Thapa defeated Bhagwati Vick and confirmed her place in the final. Sunira took a 6-0 lead in the first set. In the second set, with Bhagwati's retired hunt, Sunira easily confirmed the match for the title. 

Men's singles along with former winner Pradeep Khadka, Nihaljung Thapa, Nishan Shrestha and Hrithik Rana entered the semi-finals. Defending champion Pradeep defeated Govinda Nepali in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Nihal defeated Saksham Vikram Shah 6-3, 6-1 in straight sets, Nishan defeated Ayushman Ghale 6-1, 7-6, 9-7, Hrithik defeated Dev Ashish Reula 6-2, 6-2 to enter the second round. 

Similarly, in men's singles above 35 years of age, on Tuesday, Santosh Khatri beat B Vishwas Sri 6-1, 6-1, Deep Jeb Rana beat Suman Paudel 6-0, 6-1, Rajan Paudel beat Saber Mia 6-0, 6-0, Som Rana got a walkover and entered the second round.  In

45 plus singles, Kamal Bhandari defeated Manoj Nepal 6-0, 6-1, Madhav Bhandari defeated Gopal Gyawali 6-0, 6-1, Raj Gurung defeated Samdup K Lama 2-6, 6-1, 10-8, and Dev Chhetri defeated Ramu Vick 6-2, 6-1 to enter the second round. 

In 35 plus doubles, Jitendra Pariyar and Samir Shrestha have entered the second round by defeating the pair of Abhishek P and Sagar Thapa 6-0, 6-0 and the pair of Rajan P and Chom BS getting a walkover. 

In 45 plus doubles, the pair of Rohit Sunuwar and Himal Shah defeated the pair of Arjun Gurung and Manoj Nepal in a set of 6-1, 6-3 and entered the second round, according to match director Ajay Bisht. With the help of Butwal sub-metropolitan city, more than 100 players are participating in the tournament organized by Rupandehi Tennis Association till February 9th.
