The 3rd Mayor's Cup and 7th Butwal Open Lawn Tennis Tournament 2081 has started from Monday at the tennis complex at Devinagar in Rupandehi.

Coordinator Bishnu Prasad Chapagain said that the tournament will be held from today to February 9 in the organization of Rupandehi Tennis Association with the support of Butwal sub-metropolitan city. In the

competition, there are 6 categories of singles, male-female singles, male 35 plus, male 45 plus, male 55 plus, male 65 plus and for doubles, male doubles, female doubles, male 35 plus, male 45 plus  And the competition will be held in 11 categories with 5 categories for men 55 plus. He said that the winner of the men's and women's singles will receive 60,000/60,000 cash, the runner-up will receive 30,000 cash and the third place winner will be awarded 20,000 with cups, medals and certificates.

Likewise, the winners of men's 35 plus, men's 45 plus, men's 55 plus, men's 65 plus will be awarded 40 thousand, 35 thousand, 25 thousand and 15 thousand rupees respectively, and the runners-up will be awarded with 20 thousand, 20 thousand, 15 thousand and 7 5 hundred rupees, cups, medals and certificates. 

Similarly, the winners of men's doubles and women's doubles will be awarded with cash prizes of 20,000 rupees, runners-up with 10,000 rupees and third place winners with cash prizes of 10,000 rupees, cups, medals and certificates, he said. The winners of Men's 35 Plus, Men's 45 Plus and Men's 55 Plus will be awarded 15,000 in cash and 10,000 to the runners-up, along with cups, medals and certificates. 

Association president Gopal Gyawali said that lawn tennis games and sports activities are being carried out continuously by the association with the aim of developing players. Gyawali said that it is estimated that about 1.7 million rupees will be spent to organize the tournament, which will be supported by 1.2 million rupees from the Butwal sub-metropolitan city. Organizers say that more than 100 players are participating in the competition, including 7 women's singles.
