The host team has been defeated in the opening match of the seventh edition of the Bagmati Gold Cup football tournament. Bagmati Youth Club Sarlahi defeated the host team Bagmati Rural Municipality Sports Development Committee by 1-0 in the tournament which started on Saturday at Bagmati Rural Municipality-4, Jhurjhure located in the eastern region of Makwanpur.

Bimal Ghising scored the decisive goal in the victory of Bagmati Youth. He secured a place in the last eight by scoring an excellent goal in the 76th minute of the game. He was declared the man of the match. Ghising received Rs 10,000 in cash.

Both teams could not create the best chances throughout the game. Even though it was a national level competition, the match between the host and Sarlahi progressed at a slow pace. Due to the lack of experience, coordination problems were seen among the players on the field.
