The host team has been defeated in the opening match of the seventh edition of the Bagmati Gold Cup football tournament. Bagmati Youth Club Sarlahi defeated the host team Bagmati Rural Municipality Sports Development Committee by 1-0 in the tournament which started on Saturday at Bagmati Rural Municipality-4, Jhurjhure located in the eastern region of Makwanpur.

Bimal Ghising scored the decisive goal in the victory of Bagmati Youth. He secured a place in the last eight by scoring an excellent goal in the 76th minute of the game. He was declared the man of the match. Ghising received Rs 10,000 in cash.

Both teams could not create the best chances throughout the game. Even though it was a national level competition, the match between the host and Sarlahi progressed at a slow pace. Due to the lack of experience, coordination problems were seen among the players on the field. As part of the competition, the Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Bharatpur FC Chitwan will compete on Sunday. 10 teams including 7 'A' division clubs and 3 Mofusal clubs are participating in the

competition. It is estimated that a total of 74 lakh 73 thousand rupees will be spent for the competition. The organizing municipality will provide 25 lakh rupees. The

competition was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He also inaugurated the mini stadium built by the municipality with its own investment.
