After defeating the visiting team Brigade Boys Club UK 2-0, Nepal Police Club reached the semi-finals of the ongoing 24th Aha-Rara Pokhara Gold Cup Football in Pokhara.
The British team was returned home by the most title winning police at Pokhara Stadium on Saturday. In the 28th minute of the game, Vivek Pandey of Police took advantage of the corner ball and scored.
His strike was converted into a goal after hitting the second bar by Ryan Kunwar of Brigade Boys. In the 40th minute of the game, captain Ram Wazi doubled the lead. Ram, who was unmarked at Vivek's corner, scored a 'low head' from near the post.
Earlier in the 34th minute of the game, Vivek's corner was saved by Ram's free header by a BBC player. In the second attempt, Ram did not give any chance to the opposing goalkeeper Top Bahadur Rana. From the beginning of the game, the police kept BBC under pressure. In the 25th minute, Ujjwal Rai's free kick from Police was narrow. In the 65th minute of the game, Ashish Rai's ball from Vivek Pandey's cross from inside the box went off the post and the police missed the chance to widen the lead.
On behalf of BBC UK, in the 77th minute of the match, Vishal Tamang's header from Shaktim Limbu's free kick from the box was cleared by Shatrudhan Chaudhary, the goalkeeper of Police. Holding on to the first half lead until the end ensured the victory for Police.
Earlier, Police defeated host Sahara Club in the opening match and set the quarter-finals. While defeating Sahara, Ujwal Rai scored from a corner. Brigade Boys played the quarterfinals directly. Player of the match was Police captain Ram Waji.
