After defeating Machindra Football Club 4-2 in a tiebreaker, Three Star Club entered the semi-finals of the ongoing 24th Aha-Rara Pokhara Gold Cup in Pokhara.
Goalkeeper Sarin Jisi became the hero when five-time title winners and former runners-up Three Star defeated Machindra in the quarterfinals on Sunday. After the scheduled 90 minutes and extra 30 minutes ended in a goalless draw, the match went to a tiebreaker. Dipesh Ghale, Fofana, Viraj Maharjan and Laxman Ruchal scored on behalf of Three Star. Machindra's Vishal Ghalan hit the crossbar and bounced back. Another player Aditya Shakya's penalty was saved by Sarin Jisi, the young goalkeeper of Three Star. Abhishek Baral entered the field at the end of the game. Diwakar Chaudhary and Sanish Shrestha scored goals for Machindra. Dipesh Ghale of Three Star became the player of the match in the match.
Three Star will play the semi-final on February 1 against the winner of the last quarter-final between Sikkim's Thunderbolt North United and Black Bulls Football Club, Uzbekistan. The third quarter-final match of the tournament will be played on Monday between Church Boys United and former winners Tribhuvan Army Club.
