The 15th edition of Itahari Invitational Gold Cup football tournament will be held from February 3rd. It was informed at a press conference on Saturday that the Gold Cup, organized by the oldest National Awakening Club of Itahari, will last for a week.
Coordinator Soraj Thapa informed that the winner of the competition to be held at Itahari Stadium will get Rs 10 lakh and the runner-up will get Rs 5 lakh. A prize of Rs 1 lakh will be awarded to the best player. The category best will get 20,000 and the man of the match of each game will get 10,000.
The top scorer will be awarded 25,000. The organizer will also provide the preparation expenses for each match to the participating teams. According to the organizers, every player participating in the Gold Cup will be provided with an allowance of 1,500 per day.
Itahari sub-metropolitan city association will have 8 teams participating in the competition, former winners Charge Boys United, Machindra Club, NRT, Jhapa 11 Football Club, Dharan Football Club, United Kharsang FC India, two-time champion Everest Youth Club Morang and the host National Awakening Club. According to Santa Bahadur Dumjan, president of
club, 1.7 million rupees will be received from Itahari sub-metropolitan municipality and ward office for the competition, which is estimated to cost 81 lakh 50 thousand.
In the opening match, the host Rashtriya Jagriti Club and United Kharsang Football Club will compete. Sagarmatha Youth and NRT on February 4, Machindra and Jhapa 11 on February 5 and Church Boys and Dharan FC on February 6. The competition is principally sponsored by Control Lubricants.
