The Mayor's Cup football tournament will be held in Nepalgunj from Saturday under the organization of Banke District Football Association.

Likewise, the organizer Banke District Football Association said that the schedule of matches for the Mayor's Cup Girls' Football will be announced in a few days. Due to the small number of teams participating in the competition for female students, the schedule of matches will be announced after a few days, according to the association.

Bhojraj Shahi, President of Banke District Football Association and central member of All Nepal Football Association, said that the Banke District Team will be prepared by selecting the best players from the Mayor's Cup inter-school football competition organized by Banke District Football Association every year.

The organizers said that the women's football competition was also taken as a selection of players for the local team in the Lumbini Cup women's football competition to be held in Nepalgunj. The association said that it is preparing to allow the players who perform best during the competition to participate in the selection stage.

Due to priority being given to school level players, the organizers have made a rule that only players up to 18 years of age can play. Last year, the team of Nepalgunj St. Xavier's and Nepalgunj Model Academy became the champions of the Mayor's Cup football competition for boys and girls.
