A rare victory for the Dutch over the Thais

Netherlands won the triangular Women's Twenty20 cricket series by 1 wicket in a thrilling match over Thailand on Thursday. After this result, the title decision was extended to the last day's matches.

On Thursday, the Netherlands completed the target of 110 runs in the last ball at the Trivi Ground in Kirtipur. The team got a memorable win by scoring 8 runs in the last over. Silver Seegers scored 2 runs off the last ball to get the winning run. It was only the Netherlands' third win over Thailand, who are four places above them (16th) in the Women's Twenty20 International world rankings. 

Thailand, who won the toss and elected to bat, scored 109 runs after losing 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Thailand and the Netherlands both have the same 5 wins. Netherlands have played all 6 matches while Thailand is playing against Nepal in the last day's match on Friday. 

Thailand has a better rate of return than the Netherlands. If Nepal is defeated, Thailand will become the winner. But if Nepal wins, the match between Netherlands and Thailand will be decided on the basis of net run rate.

Fab Molkenboer scored 32 off 42 balls with 2 fours, Robin Rijke scored 20 off 21 balls with 1 four and Steer Kallis scored 14 runs to make the Netherlands victorious. Thipatcha Puthavong from Thailand spent 12 runs in 4 overs and took 4 wickets but could not make the team win. Onicha Kamchomfu took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs and Fanita Maya took 2 wickets.

Before batting first, Officera Suwanchonrathi was dismissed for zero, Nanapat Koncharoinkai was dismissed for 3 and Nataya Buchathan was dismissed for 6 runs. Thailand had already lost 3 wickets when they scored 10 runs in the fifth over. Then captain Naruimol Chaiwai scored 15 runs.

Nathakan Chantham shared a vital partnership of 66 runs with Chanida Suthirueng for the fifth wicket. Suthirueng scored 32 runs off 28 balls with 4 fours. Chantham scored 36 off 46 balls with 4 fours and 1 six and Suwanan Khieto scored an unbeaten 10 runs off 4 balls with 1 six. Iris Willing of the Netherlands took 3 wickets with just 9 runs in 4 overs and Heather Seegers took 2 wickets with 1 maiden in 4 overs with 18 runs.
