This year's Kathmandu Pink Careathon will be held on February 10. With the aim of raising awareness about women's health and fitness, the Pink Careathon, which has been held by Laser Port since 2017 under the name of Pinkathon, will be held at the Jawalakhel football ground this year.
Head of Leisure Port Namraj Joshi said that 3 km, 5 km and 21 km races are going to be organized for women and the race course is yet to be finalised. First to third in 21 km will get 51,000, 31,000 and 21,000 respectively.
Similarly, Joshi said that for finishing in the first three places of 3 and 5 km, they will get a 1-night stay at Princess with Pink Careathon's hospitality partner. Women's race, Zumba and other events will be held in Kathmandu Pink Careathon.
Joshi said that the main purpose of this event, in which women of any age group can participate, is to inspire women who are always busy with household work and daily life to take time for their health.
The organizers expect around 2,500 to 3,000 women to participate in the race. Artist Usha Rajak has been announced as the goodwill ambassador of Kathmandu Pink Careathon, while Santoshi Shrestha, the gold-winning runner in the South Asian Games, is its brand ambassador.
In order to build a strong society, the first women should be empowered and experts have pointed out that such events will strengthen women.
Medical Director of Nepal Cancer Hospital Wijeshraj Ghimire, President of Iwart Ichha Gurung, National Sports Council member Suvarna Shrestha along with women workers Mandira Raut, Shobha Gurung highlighted the importance of Pink Careathon.
Pinkathon was held for the first time in 2017 and three editions were held till 2019. After covid-19, it continued again from last year.
