After defeating NRT in sudden death, Church Boys United reached the quarter-finals of the ongoing 24th Aha-Rara Pokhara Gold Cup Football in Pokhara. The match went to sudden death through penalty shootout after the scheduled and extra time ended in a 1-1 tie at Pokhara Stadium on Thursday.

Church Boys goalkeeper Tikendrasingh Thapa became the hero in the penalty shootout. He saved three penalties as the Church boys secured a place in the quarterfinals. Extra time was pushed after the scheduled 90 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw. Neither side could score during the extra 30 minutes. After the penalty shootout ended in a tie of 4-4, sudden death had to be resorted to.  Church Boys' Naveen Lama, Milan Rai, Akins Baffour and Abayomi Fakunle scored in the

penalty shootout. Sakal Regmi's shot also went over the crossbar. NRT captain Anjan Bisht, Jai Gurung, Sumit Shrestha and goalkeeper Vishal Sunar scored the goals. 

Angel Maharjan's strike is out. Church Boys' Prashant Laksham scored in sudden death. Then NRT's Rajeev Lopchan equalized by returning the goal. Church Boys' Serge Dhika's penalty was saved by NRT's goalkeeper Vishal Sunar. NRT's Janmjay Dhami's ball was saved by Tikendra Singh of Church Boys. 

Then Church Boys' Raj Bhusal's penalty was saved by Vishal. NRT's Richard Wilson's shot was also saved by Tikendra and the game was again tied at 5-5. Then Tikendra tried to take the penalty himself. He also scored a goal. NRT's Michael Magar's penalty was stopped by Tikendra and the team won. He became the player of the match. 

Before that, Richard Wilson scored a goal in the 25th minute to give NRT the lead. Kritisharatna Chunju surprised the midfielder of Church Boys and hit the ball from the penalty area, but the goalkeeper of Church Boys, Tikendrasingh Thapa, missed the ball. On the rebound, Richard tapped in from inside the box and turned it into a goal.
