International Boxing and Muay Thai Championships

The 2nd Changya Gurung International Boxing and Muay Thai Championship will be held at Ayazona, CGG Sports Hub. The competition to be held on February 9 and 10 will be held in Swayambhu.

In the press conference held on Thursday, Dorje Ghale, the coordinator of the organizing committee, informed that there will be participation of boxers from Nepal along with players from India and Bhutan in the boxing tournament. Deepak Maharjan, technical director of the boxing tournament, said that a total of 44 players will compete in various competitions.

Men's elite boxing will be contested in 54kg, 57kg and 60kg weight groups while elite women's will be contested only in 57kg. Men's youth boxing will be contested in 60 kg and women's youth boxing will be contested in 57 kg and 60 kg. 

Junior men will compete in boxing at 54 kg and 63 kg. Coordinator Sanjay Rai said that a total of 76 players from 21 teams will participate in Muay Thai. Male pro athletes will compete in 45 kg, 51 kg, 55 kg and 65 kg. Female pro athletes will only compete at 51kg.

The men's semi-pro will compete in 50 kg, 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg and 75 kg, while the women's athletes will compete in the 50 kg, 55 kg and 60 kg weight groups. In men's amateur boxing, athletes will compete in 50 kg, 55 kg and 60 kg categories, while women athletes will compete in 50 kg and 55 kg categories. The organizers informed that the winner of the

pro event will be awarded with a cash prize.
