The second edition of Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup will be held from February 7. The tournament, which is going to be held in memory of former footballer Gambhir Rai, who passed away recently, will be held at Mechi Stadium in Bhadrapur.
According to the organizers, 10 teams including three guest teams and two departmental teams will participate in the competition. Bhadrapur Blazers and guest team Darjeeling Police Football Club (India) will compete in the opening match. Teams from India, Bangladesh and Bhutan will participate in the
competition along with Nepal Police, APF. Similarly, Jhapa-11 FC, Machindra Football Club, Church Boys United, New Road Team (NRT) and others will participate. The winner of the competition will get a cash prize of Rs.13 lakh and the runner-up will get a prize of Rs.7 lakh. The organizers have estimated the cost of about 1 crore 78 lakh rupees to complete the
competition.
The best player (player of the tournament) will be given 1 lakh 5 thousand rupees, the best goalkeeper, top scorer, emerging player and coach: 25/25 thousand and the player of the match of each game: 21 thousand rupees. In the
competition, Bhadrapur Municipality is the patron and Jhapa District Sports Development Committee is the coordinator.
