Former winners NRT made it to the semi-finals of the 25th Budhasubba Gold Cup football tournament on Tuesday. In the last quarter-final on Tuesday, NRT defeated Kakadvitta Football Training Center of Jhapa by 3-1 goals. Shishir Lekhi, Saroj Ghising and Rohan Khadgi scored for NRT. Kakadvitta's Robert Khonjou converted a goal.
In the first half of the match at Dharan Stadium, both teams played goalless as they could not make use of some opportunities. In the second half, NRT increased the pressure on Kakadvitta and won 3-1. After the second half, NRT took the lead in the 48th minute with Shishir's goal and doubled the lead in the 60th minute with Saroj's goal. In the 61st minute, Kakadvitta's Robert returned the goal and the game reached 2-1. In the 79th minute, substitute player Rohan scored a goal for NRT to widen the lead again. He entered the field in the 66th minute of the game in place of Giron Naha.
Player of the match was Shishir Lekhi of NRT. He got a prize of 10,000 rupees. NRT will play United Kharsang Football Club of India in the semi-finals on Thursday to reach the final. In the first semi-final on Wednesday, RTC FC of Bhutan will compete against A Division League champions Church Boys United.
